Star Wars The Black Series: Obi-Wan Kenobi Lightsaber Episode 1

Obi-Wan Kenobi was a perfect Jedi. He was one of the very few Jedis who trained other powerful Jedis like Anakin and Luke Skywalker. As Anakin became the reason Republic lost, Luke became the reason Republic was rebuilt. Obi-Wan Kenobi also remains the only Jedi to defeat Darth Vader on Mustafar. 

 “ Obi-Wan is a great Mentor. As wise as Master Yoda and as powerful as Master Windu.”

Obi-Wan Kenobi lived most of his life protecting Luke in the desserts of Tattoine. Although, his life was completely different before the Great Jedi Purge, or even back as a Padawan. In Episode 1, also known as “Star Wars: Phantom Menace.” Obi-Wan was a young Padawan learning the ways of Jedi. He was seen for the first time on Tattoine with his Master Qui-Gon Jinn.

When someone mentions a great Jedi, the discussion about his lightsabers also becomes necessary. People usually discuss Kylo Ren’s lightsaber or Mace Windu’s lightsaber, but Obi-Wan’s lightsaber doesn’t get much attention. So, let’s dive into the knowledge of Obi-Wan and the lightsabers he used throughout his life.

Obi-Wan’s first lightsaber

As seen in The Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon Jinn found young Anakin on Tattoine and brought him alongside after realizing his potential. There, Anakin met Obi-Wan for the first time on the ship. Obi-Wan was a young padawan at that time with almost no facial hairs. He wielded a blue lightsaber with a standard hilt. His lightsaber had the same design as his master Qui-Gon.

Obi-Wan continued to use his first blue lightsaber until his first duel against Darth Maul. After Darth Maul invades Naboo, Obi-Wan and his Master Qui-Gonn battled against Darth Maul. Sadly, Darth Maul killed Qui-Gon and threw Obi-Wan’s lightsaber into the Theed Power Generator. Although Obi-Wan managed to defeat Darth Maul, he lost his first lightsaber. 

Obi-Wan’s Second Lightsaber

After defeating Darth Maul, Obi-Wan earned the title of Jedi Knight. He took Anakin as his Padawan and created a new lightsaber that had the same design, color, and hilt as his first lightsaber. Obi-Wan used his second lightsaber the most.

Even after he got the rank of Jedi Master and a member of the Jedi Council, he continued to use his 2nd lightsaber till he lost it again. Obi-Wan went to Geonosis to capture Count Dooku, but Geonosians captured him first. They disarmed him and took his lightsaber away, and he never got it back. 

Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Third Lightsaber

Obi-Wan Kenobi escaped from Geonosis and created a new blue-bladed lightsaber. This lightsaber was also standard type, but with a completely different design. His lightsaber was powered by Diantum Power cells. He wielded this lightsaber for the rest of his life. He wielded it throughout the Clone Wars. He fought against general Grievous with this lightsaber and defeated him. 

Obi-Wan Kenobi survived Order 66 and decided to fight Anakin, who had become Darth Vader. He faced off Anakin on Mustafar planet. After a tough duel, he defeated Anakin. He also took responsibility for newborn Luke and brought him to Tattoine. He watched Luke from a distance and protected him from every danger. 

On Tatooine, Obi-Wan fought against Maul for the second time and defeated him again with his third lightsaber. You can watch this in the “Star Wars: Rebels.” series. He protected Luke until Luke was mature. 

Obi-Wan died after he and Luke entered the Imperial spaceship to free Leia Organa. He found himself in front of his former apprentice, Darth Vader. He sacrificed himself to make an escape way for Luke and Leia. Obi-Wan Kenobi spent most of his days in solitude, never forgetting the Jedi code. He fulfilled his responsibility as a Jedi and protected the real Chosen One, who freed the Galaxy from the brutal Empire.
