Star Wars is a fictional story told in movies and Tv series. All these stories are connected with the original trilogy of Star Wars. Especially the characters of this trilogy are the favorite characters of Star Wars fans. Almost 4 decades have passed since the first movie aired. Still, the curious fans come up with new questions every day about these characters.

Luke Skywalker is the main protagonist of the Star Wars original trilogy. He is the real ‘Chosen One.’ who defeated the Galactic Empire. Luke’s sudden appearance in “The Mandalorian.” create hype about this Jedi. Even the new Star Wars fans want to learn more about him. A common question is circulating across the web. What planet is Luke Skywalker from? So, let’s learn about Luke Skywalker in detail.

Luke Skywalker’s Home Planet

Luke was born under catastrophic situations on a moon. We need to dig deeper into the past to find out about Luke Skywalker’s home location. We may get an answer from his father, Anakin Skywalker’s home planet.

As seen in the prequels, Anakin Skywalker was an enslaved person living with his mother in the desert of Tatooine. He was born on this planet and spent some years of his life there until Qui-Gon freed him for a different journey. So, Anakin Skywalker’s home planet was Tatooine. What about Luke’s home planet?

Luke’s mother was the princess of Naboo planet. But, she was not on the Naboo planet when she gave birth to the twins. His mother died while she gave birth. Senator Organa adopted Luke Skywalker’s sister, Leia, and she became the princess of Alderan. But Luke had a different destination waiting for him.

After Padme died, Obi-Wan took the baby Luke and brought him back to his father’s planet. Luke and an uncle and aunt waiting for him. They raised Luke on Tatooine. The third movie of the prequels, “Revenge of the Sith.” explained it all.

We already know Luke was living in a desert with his uncle as seen in the first movie of the original trilogy. He lived in Tatooine till he grew up. Luke Skywalker’s sister sent a message to Obi-Wan, and this message became the reason for Luke to travel to the outside world.

We can say Luke Skywalker’s home planet was Tatooine. It was Anakin Skywalker’s home planet, and Luke spent his childhood on the same planet.

Tatooine (A Desert World and The First Planet)

In the Star Wars Galaxy of billions of planets, Tatooine existed in the outer rims. Many great people emerged from this barren land. This place was also famous for hiding as it did not fall under Republic’s jurisdiction. This land had only a few towns like Mos Espa, Mos Eisley, Free Town, etc. These towns had their own rules and regulations and had no government.

It is mostly a desert planet with only 1% of its surface covered in water. According to the legends, Tattoine was once full of water, but natural disasters caused all the water to disappear.

Due to the lack of water and natural disasters, the planet’s population was only limited to 200,000. The planet had only two native races, Tusken Raiders, and Jawas. Both these races lived in deserts, and the outsiders owned the towns of Tatooine. The outsiders came here for their illegal businesses.

Jawas were small creatures who survived by stealing junk and selling it off. On the other hand, Tusken raiders were more like the rebellious ones. They lived in the desert and attacked small villages to steal their resources and water to feed themselves.

Those Tuskens tried to attack Luke Skywalker’s home location many times, but Obi-Wan repelled them every time. Luke’s Grandmother was also captured and killed by the Tuskens long before his birth.

When Luke defeated the Emperor, he came back to Tatooine many times. One time he went there to free Han Solo. Other times, he came back to search for Obi-Wan’s hut to find valuable stuff.

After building the new Republic, Luke Skywalker’s sister continued her duty in the senate, and he focused on building a new Jedi Order.

What Planet Did Luke Skywalker Die on?

Luke Skywalker lived many years after he built the new Republic. He died almost two decades after building the new Republic.

As seen in the sequel trilogy, Luke failed to raise his nephew, Ben Solo, as a true Jedi. Ben turned to the Dark Side and became Kylo Ren. Luke blamed himself and disappeared somewhere in the galaxy.

Rey finds out about his hideouts in the next movie of sequels. The planet was hidden from their maps. He was hiding on the Ahch-To planet. Disappointed in himself, Luke was planning to live there until death.

Did he die on the same planet? Yes! But not as he was expecting. He died heroically. He created a Force-based projection from Ahch-To planet to Crait planet. He did it to protect the resistance from First Order. This projection took too much of his Force energy. He saved the resistance, but Ahch-To became the planet of Luke Skywalker’s death location.

How Old Was Luke when He Died?

Luke became a Jedi when he was 22 years old. After defeating the Emperor at this age, he spent many years building the new Republic. He died almost 30 years after the New Republic.

According to the officials, Luke Skywalker’s death happened at 53 years old. Luke Skywalker’s sister died when she was 54 years old. His Nephew, Kylo Ren, also died when he was 29 years old, thus ending the Skywalker legacy.

What Happened to Luke Skywalker in Books?

We know Luke Skywalker died on Ahch-To, in the movies. However, the books tell us a different story. In books, Luke Skywalker did not die. He was still alive and was in the sixties of his life.

He had become a Grand Jedi Master like Master Yoda when the Republic relieved him of his duty from Coruscant. What happened to him afterward was not told in the comics. We do not know if he died and how did he die.

I guess Luke Skywalker’s death happened due to old age back on his home planet, Tatooine. Moreover, if you’re looking for a lightsaber collection please visit our collections and extend your experience.
