The most potent weapon in the Star Wars universe is the lightsaber. A lightsaber has enough force to stop bullets in their tracks. Its sharpness allows it to slice through rocks and strong metal doors. For thousands of years, Jedi have used this graceful weapon to spread Order throughout the galaxy. Similarly, this weapon is employed by the Dark Forces to further their malevolent schemes. We’ll go into great detail on Beskar vs. Lightsaber.

The perfection of the lightsaber was an accepted idea among the Star Wars community. The recent series of “The Mandalorian.” has put doubts into fans’ hearts. After seeing the Beskar armor and weapon, the fans rushed the internet with questions.

What is this ultimate Mandalorian Beskar material, and why is it compared with lightsabers? Is Beskar better than lightsaber? Or, can a lightsaber cut through the Beskar weapons or armors? Let’s get into the details of the abilities and limitations of Both weapons.

Lightsaber

As Master Obi-Wan said, “A Lightsaber is an elegant weapon of a more civilized age.” We know this weapon can cut through almost everything.

A lightsaber may look like a normal sword, but it came into its modern form after thousands of years of evolution. It is much more complex from the inside than the outside. A lightsaber contains Diantium power cells to power the lightsaber. The Kyber crystal inside the hilt enhances this power many times fold.

The ability of a lightsaber to cut does not depend on the sharpness of the blade. It is neither a laser that cuts through things with radiation. The blade of a lightsaber is made of plasma. Somehow, the Star Wars galaxy has found a way to contain the plasma within the blade. The Kyber crystal enhances the energy of the plasma blade. It also regulates the energy back into the power cells if not in use.

But how can plasma cut through everything? Melting would make sense, but how can we justify the cutting? Scientifically, if the temperature is very high, it can melt even metal quickly. If this high temperature is focused on a small section of the blade, then it can melt even faster.  The temperature of the plasma blade ranges from 7000°C to 25000°C.

This temperature is more than the hotness of the core of the sun. A lightsaber strike hits harder than a lightning bolt. Both the plasma and the strike’s momentum melt anything in the way very quickly. It almost feels like a lightsaber has cut down the object instantly, even though it melts it. But can a lightsaber cut through Mandalorian Beskar armor?

Limitation of Lightsaber

The lightsaber is powerful, but we see many other elements in the galaxy that are also very tough. More than 7 elements exist in the Star Wars galaxy that a lightsaber cannot cut. Most of them are very rare. So, resources to make armors or weapons out of those materials are insufficient. Prick is a famous material that can resist a lightsaber. We have seen this material in the movies. The guards of Darth Sidious and Snoke wore red armor made of Phrikk material. So, is the Mandalorian Beskar as powerful as Phrikk? If it is, it would be indestructible because it is available in bigger quantities than any other material.

Mandalorian Beskar

Beskar is a rare metallic element in the Star Wars galaxy. It is only found on the Mandalore planet. It also goes with the name of Mandalorian Beskar. This element holds a special place in the hearts of Mandalorian tribes. They have been using this material to make Beskar armors and Beskar weapons. Some tribes are even worshipping it for centuries. There is a great reason why these people are crazy over an element.

Beskar is considered one of the toughest elements in the galaxy. Beskar armors can resist bullets and blasters, as seen in “The Mandalorian” and “Book of Boba Fett.” Nothing can penetrate Beskar armors and helmets. Beskar weapons are as strong as their armors.

The best thing about Mandalorian Beskar is its ability to resist a lightsaber. Yes! A lightsaber could not cut through Beskar. We saw a Beskar-made rod wielded by Din Djarin against Moff Gideon. Gideon was wielding Darksaber, but he could not cut through the rod.

The Mandalorian Beskar weapons and armors are the reason why Jedis could not easily win in the Jedi/Mandalorian war. This war took place centuries ago. The Mandalorians were great warriors, and they gave a tough time to the Jedi Order even though they lost in the end.

Let’s scientifically analyze the Mandalorian Beskar. According to the officials, a pure Beskar armor can resist a temperature of 30000°C. A lightsaber’s temperature can only go up to 25000°C. That means one direct hit of the lightsaber cannot cut through the Beskar. But the situation could be different sometimes.

Limitation of Beskar

Beskar is tough but not invincible. As seen in the Mandalorian series, they melt the Beskar element to forge their Beskar armors and weapons. So, Beskar can be melted after all. Secondly, we saw the Darksaber strikes caused the Beskar rod to be extremely hot. Any area of the rod that touches the blade of Darksaber became burning red instantly.

That means a lightsaber may not cut through the Beskar weapons. But, if the lightsaber stays in contact with the armor for a longer time, it may eventually melt the Beskar armor.

Beskar Comparision with;

According to the Star Wars community, let’s compare Beskar with other materials that can give a tough time to a lightsaber.

Beskar vs Vibranium

Vibranium is the ultimate shield of Captain America in the Marvel universe. This shield is known for kinetic energy and can withstand very heavy blows. But, Beskar is on a different level when it comes to strength. Thanos broke the Vibranium shield easily. Even Thor dented it with his hammer. On the other hand, we never saw anyone breaking through Beskar. So, Beskar weapon would take the easy victory.

Beskar vs Adamantium

Another tough Marvel weapon is Wolverines Adamantium claws. They are very tough, but Sabretooth broke his claws once. So, anything breakable cannot be compared with the unbreakable Mandalorian Beskar.

Beskar vs Lightsaber

A lightsaber can easily defeat Vibranium and Adamantium, according to most people. We saw that Beskar is also better than these two. So who wins between the two?

The answer is simple. One lightsaber strike cannot cut through the Mandalorian Beskar armor or a Beskar weapon. But if a lightsaber stays in touch with it for a longer period, it will melt it. It also depends on the wielder of the weapons. Jedis wield a lightsaber that is much stronger than a Mandalorian warrior. So, a lightsaber-wielding Jedi will always win. If a normal person wields a lightsaber, he will lose to Mandalorian wearing Beskar.
